AVONWORTH NIGHT AT THE RIVERHOUNDS GAME RECAP
What a great night for the Avonworth Soccer Association this past Saturday watching the Pittsburgh Riverhounds game at Highmark Stadium. We had over 200 Avonworth players and family members attend the pre-game events and watch the Riverhounds battle the Charleston Battery
Here is a quick recap of the events:
Because of the terrific interest shown by our families, we had to split into two pre-game venues; Dinner within the private club at Highmark Stadium and a private function at the Steel Cactus. Next were three great highlights for our kids; first was the U10/U11 co-ed game played on the turf of Highmark Stadium with 35 Avonworth players participating! It was a back and forth game with some great play that ended with a 3-3 draw! After the Avonworth game, we were able to have 25 players participate in the Riverhounds pre-game tunnel as they entered the field for the game. Finally, we were able to have some of our players serve as ball girls and ball boys during the second half of the game.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, door prizes given and / or raffled off included, but were not limited to, the Milkshake Factory, AMPd Group Restaurants, Double Wide Grill, Southside Chamber of Commerce, Urban Tap, Chupkas II, and a Giant Rubber Duckie planter.
Thanks again to our great sponsors whose generosity kept the cost per person to a minimum.
